Information about the above.
The Foundation emerged from the vision of Mr Allan Gray to make a sustainable long-term contribution to Southern Africa and has the support of both the companies he founded, Allan Gray Limited and Orbis Investment Management.
It is funded annually by a donation of 7% of the taxed profits from Allan Gray Limited, which has committed to making this donation to the Foundation in perpetuity. As profits may fluctuate, this commitment is backed up by an endowment trust capitalised with over R1 billion which was donated by Mr. Allan Gray.
The Foundation runs in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Swaziland.
E² venture capital fund has partnered with the Foundation in South Africa to fund potential future Allan Gray Fellow’s entrepreneurial ventures.
The Foundation’s Entrepreneurial Values are made up of its 5 Pillars which are: Intellectual Imagination; Achievement Excellence; Personal Initiative; Spirit of Significance and Courageous Commitment.
The high level vision is to activate the Foundations’ Pillars in individuals by establishing an entrepreneurial mindset that gives rise to the ability to become high impact responsible entrepreneurs. Based on these Pillars, the Foundation’s Programmes will facilitate the development of an entrepreneurial attitude by providing access to a range of challenging opportunities and experiences. Compelling practical learning methods, both directed and self-directed, expose, unlock and develop these attitudes into habitual entrepreneurial behaviour.
