Established in 2007 with initial capital of R20 million, Siyakhula is the enterprise development vehicle for Barloworld. Siyakhula, which means “we are growing” in isiZulu and isiXhosa has a simple vision: to grow enterprises through meaningful investment and partnerships.

Siyakhula promotes the development of lasting empowerment through the provision of financial and operational support to existing small and medium-sized suppliers. In addition, we lend our support to the development of new business opportunities within the Barloworld value chain.

Siyakhula enables companies within the Barloworld Group to make a significant contribution to the promotion of enterprise development and entrepreneurial growth through supplier diversity. From its inception it has assisted several companies and works closely with them to strengthen their broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) scorecards and sharpen their competitive edge. By aligning with the Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative of South Africa and the Department of Trade and Industry’s Codes of Good Practice relating to broad-based black economic empowerment (B-BBEE), Barloworld is demonstrating its commitment to transformation as well as refining B-BBEE strategies and practices applicable to the group and its subsidiaries.

Siyakhula works hand-in-hand with its beneficiaries, guiding their transformation strategy and helps the meet the challenges of the modern business environment.

At Barloworld, we believe in the power and potential of South African entrepreneurs. Through Siyakhula, we grow them - cultivating the talent, opportunities and partnerships that allow potential to flourish.
