Assistance for small meduim business owners
Started in 2010, Tiger brands saw an opportunity to help build the economy by developing and empowering small business owners such as caterers. “The catering sector was the obvious choice for Tiger brands to invest in as we as Tiger brands share their passion for food”, said Zin Mabaso, Managing Executive: Groceries, Tiger Brands.
The project is intended to build cooking and catering skills among black-owned catering companies and chefs. The end goal of the program is to improve the abilities of entrepreneurs within the industry, to enhance their career opportunities, improve their quality of life and ultimately create sustainable businesses in the culinary industry.
At the graduation ceremony, SACA President Stephen Billingham congratulated the group: “Each graduate have the opportunity to perform and achieve success in the culinary industry. Be loyal to your industry and sponsors, share your knowledge with others and never lose your love and enthusiasm for the industry. ”
All the graduates received a knife set and certificate acknowledging their newly obtained qualification. Two graduates, Gloria Radasi and Nomathemba Mnukwa received special recognition as highest achieving students in the programme. To add some fun, Mandla Sithebe was awarded Best Personality and Lerato Lakaje received an award for the most glamorous student.
Thank you to Tiger Brands, the IED, BEESA and lecturers involved in the programme for their continued support and commitment to the upliftment and development of entry level catering entrepreneurs and promoting sustainable businesses in the culinary industry.
